Big City Volleyball is excited to announce the return of our always popular 6-week beginner skills class, designed for players 18+ years old who would like to learn the basics of volleyball.

Beginner Classes are designed to help every player learn the fundamentals of Volleyball and develop the proper mechanics and skills to play the game – All in a fun and friendly environment!

Each week of the course will cover a basic skill and incorporate cooperative and competitive drills for participants to take on together and form lasting bonds through the game we all love!

Class Schedule:
Week 1 - Ball Control (Jan 8)
Platform Passing/Footwork
Overhand Passing
Passing (Long, Short)
Partner Passing

Week 2 - Serve and Receive (Jan 15)
Float Serve
Spot Serving
Passing to Target
Serve receive

Week 3 - Defense (Jan 22)
Base Defense
Perimeter Defense
Butterfly Drill

Week 4 - Attacking & Blocking (Feb 5)
Arm Swing
Spike Approach
Self Toss Attack
Blocking Footwork

Week 5 - Positions, Rotations, and Rules (Feb 12)
Overview of Positions (Setter, Right Side, Outside, Middle, Libero)
Overview of a 4-2 rotation (5-1 & 6-2 optional)
USA Drill

Week 6 - Review and Scrimmage (Feb 26)
Review of Skills
Scrimmage

  • Only registered players are allowed in the gym, no spectators please

Cancellation policy:
Attendees who cancel 3 days before start of program will have the full cost of their ticket issued to their Big City Youth Volleyball account credit.
